No mês de novembro, o prof. Sten Wessman, Doutor em Termodinâmica Computacional, Gerente de Pesquisas de metalurgia física de aços inoxidáveis na Swerea KIMAB AB, anteriormente Swedish Institute for Metals Research, proferirá palestra sobre "Applications of computational thermodynamics and kinetics on transformations in stainless steels and nickel base alloys".
Stainless steels and nickel base alloys are high-alloyed materials, usually with multiple components, matrix phases and precipitates. This makes the predictions and calculations of alloying effects on equilibria and transformations complicated. As an indispensable tool for the materials researcher, computational thermodynamics has emerged for advanced calculations with thermodynamics and kinetics. This presentation offers a background to this science and examples are presented which illustrate how computational methods can be applied, both to reproduce experimental results as also to increase the understanding of the behaviour of the material by predictions.
